Happy Turkey Day!

So I got a little Thanksgiving food fun crazy this year --- I stayed up till 4am doing the following....WHY???? WHY???? WHY???? I do not know! but they are cute ;)
Four pumpkin pies - yes 4 apparently my family is full of pumpkin pie monsters!

A Turkey Gobbler --- cute --- but will not be made again ---

Representing both sides of the original feast, well somewhat the turkeys kind of remind me of Indian feathers --- Pilgrim Hats & Turkey Cookies --- Ashley has been correcting me all week --- apparently her school was instructed to teach them that it was the Pilgrims and Native American's that participated in the first Turkey Day.

All the kids liked these --- they really did turn out well.
And I wasn't the only one staying up till 4am the night before Thanksgiving --- Eric decided to put the lights out --- in the middle of the night ;) Silly Guy! But they look great!
And since Ashley missed out on all the middle of the night fun going on --- I let her make some Turkey Cookies Thanksgiving morning while the Macy's Parade was on.
The final result --- not so much an Indian Cookie - but a chocolate girl!

And for all those that have asked...here is a pic of my haircut (12 inches baby!!! GONE)...Ok..so it's not the best pic --- but it's all I have right now...sorry - I don't usually take pics of myself.
Ashley and her cousin Sam hanging out w/ Nana & Pops
Gotta love the hokey pokey bear --- seriously the kids play with it every time they go over there!
I love this picture for two reason --- captured a yawn :) cute --- and our new camera has this awesome color spot setting --- check out that aligator!
and another shot playing around w/ the new camera's settings

Gigi & Granken's beautiful Thanksgiving table! My mom always has the prettiest tables!

All in all we had a great Thanksgiving and enjoyed the day with family and friends :)

The Trains at Northpark

The Wednesday before Thanksgiving we headed to Northpark to see The Trains. I'm ready Mom & Dad!! Let's go!

Eric hadn't been to Northpark in several years and had gotten Ashley all excited about the penguins --- for anyone else who doesn't know --- the penguins are no longer at Northpark --- so don't get your kids excited ;) She did have fun searching for the turtles and watching them swim under the little bridge and come out on the other side though.

And here is our little train conductor! YEA TRAINS!

We had fun and ate a yummy WhichWich in the food court. Ashley zonked out in the car on the way home!

Pretzels! YUM!

We spent the afternoon at Aunt Kristen's house making pretzels. It was a lot of fun and Ashley loved helping the big girls stretch and roll the dough :)

Happy Halloween!

Here's our little lady bug riding a pony at our Church's fall festival. We had a great Halloween - a very full, but very fun day full of costume contests, trick-or-treating, bounce houses, visiting family, and eating lots and lots of suckers!

The night before Halloween we got to work carving up our pumpkins { 3 of them, one for daddy, one for mommy, and one for Ashley} - Ashley had a blast getting all the 'guck and seeds' {as she called it} out of the pumpkins. She worked so hard and loved her final product.
Yes, we carved up that tiny one too - but you can't really tell because we didn't have a candle small enough to go inside :(

Pumpkin Patch 2008

WEEEEEEEEE ~ Ashley and Mommy sliding down the big slide at the pumpkin patch. Ashley wanted to do it so bad - but when she got up there was a little intimidated, so mommy went with her.
Each year we go to the same pumpkin patch with Gigi and Granken - we always have a good time and take lots of great pictures. This year the weather was beautiful and we got to eat a yummy lunch outdoors and enjoy the entire afternoon.

Ashley with "touille". Maybe not her favorite movie character anymore - but she will always hold a special place in her heart for "touille". I am pretty sure that by now she could pronounce Ratatouille if she wanted to --- but to her this will always be "touille".
With Mickey and Minnie - notice how she is holding her hands out :) So cute - she was doing this with all the cutouts - like she was putting her arms around them :)

Early Fall Fun

Warning: this may be the longest post ever! I have all of September and half of October to post about ;)

FAMILY CAMPOUT FUN
The city we live in has a great Parks & Recs department - they hold an annual camp-out at a local park. We went this year and had a blast. Ashley helped us set up the tent and was so excited about her big campout.

Ashley and Aidan (not quite sure what they are doing here - but I think this was taken shortly after they attempted to play football and soccer with each other....note the keyword here is 'attempted' it was pretty comical.
Once it got dark we headed out on the night-time walk to a pavilion on the other side of the park where we got to make some oh so yummy smores! What camping trip is complete without smores?? Gotta have 'em!
Ashley and Aidan (over the not so cool outdoor fire - what happened to real camping??) roasting their marshmallows.YUM! Chocolate before bed - maybe not a great idea - but it sure was YUMMY!

And here's a picture Ashley took of mommy & daddy in the tent before retiring for the night - she is becoming quite the little photographer!
My cute girl - loved her first camping trip! She is still talking about sleeping in a tent a month later!

PLANO BALLOON FESTIVAL

We headed to the Plano Balloon Festival one weekend and Ashley did so great! She walked (skipped, hopped) almost the entire way in to the grounds from the car --- and it was far! She had so much fun looking at all the balloons, drinking lemonade, and eating a funnel cake!
and here we are - still walking - I swear it was a three mile walk....

HEARD MUSEUM DINO HUNT

Another weekend this fall we headed to the Heard Museum - they had a really neat dinosaur exhibit outside where you could walk a 2 mile trail and see lots of animitronic dinos. Ash thought it was great! She kept running - trying to find the next one - and once she'd find one - she would run back to us and scream --- "look, look, I found one" - it was really cute!
They also had a butterfly exhibit and some 'native' animals in a mini zoo area. It was a fun family outing and we'd recommend it to you all :) Make sure the dinos are still there though - it wouldn't be as cool w/out them.

CLIFFORD SIGHTING

Thanks to PBS - Ashley got to meet Clifford a few weeks ago! She absolutely loves Clifford! I love PBS and any time Ashley gets to watch tv...this is the channel we watch. So a few weeks ago they started broadcasting that Clifford was coming to the library - the first time Ashley heard the announcement she said, "oh boy Clifford - go see him at the library - so excited" ---- and she talked about it for weeks ---- so even though it was in an area of town that I wasn't so sure about - how could we say no to her??? She was so excited....so we packed up the car and told her we were going to try to find the library - but we weren't sure if we could find it --- I said this b/c I was not familiar with the area that it was in and wanted to have the option of turning around should we not feel safe there. But all my fears were silly - it was fine! Everyone was so nice and Ashley had a wonderful time and got to do all kinds of things - go on a lion hunt, make a necklace, listen to a lion sing/dance, and ultimately meet Clifford...boy was she excited!
She gave Clifford a high five, a kiss and a hug - which she reminds us of daily. too cute!

GETTING COOLER OUT

Random fall picture - the weather is changing ---- brrr.

COWBOY DAY -- YEEE HAW!

Ashley had cowboy day at school on Tuesday. She loved every minute of it and had so much fun doing cowgirl things at school.
CRAFTY GAL

We love doing arts and crafts over at our house. Ashley is one crafty little toddler. Between cooking and crafting she is going to be a true little Martha ;)

HAPPY 25th KRISTEN

A few weeks ago, we threw a surprise birthday party for Aunt Kristen! We planned a backyard movie party b/c Kris ABSOLUTELY loves movies! It was a lot of fun! Check out that awesome cake --- yes the popcorn bucket is actually her cake! How cool is that?? Thanks to Elizabeth's Cakes!

We had a blast - waiting for it to get dark so we could start the movie.

LITTLE MISS BALLERINA

Ashley has started a ballet class this fall - it is so cute to watch her dance. The first few classes she sat in my lap and I wondered why in the world I was paying to have her sit in my lap for 30 minutes once a week and watch other little ballerinas dance around....but now she is a little pro! It is adorable to watch her do her twirls on her tippy toes! She is a natural :)
On a side note - her favorite tv show aside from Clifford is Dancing with the Stars - she literally stands there for the entire hour and copies all the dancers....I'm going to have to get it on video - she is actually really good at copying them! Pretty impressive.
CRAFTS AGAIN
One day Ashley and Mommy decided to make some Halloween cards for our family members. Ashley had a blast making little witches, pirates, and super heroes. She really does love crafts - when I pick her up from school she is always so excited to show me what she made that day. It's cute!
and the final product... well, not entirely final - b/c a few weeks later we made them into Halloween cards...but here's phase one :)
