Labor Day Weekend: Reiter Family Reunion

I know - I said I'd post this a long time ago - but I've been busy {blame it on TrendyMommy - the new site is up YEA!}!

So here goes...We headed down to New Braunsfel this Labor Day to partake in the annual Reiter Family Reunion. There were about 70 of us this year - it was a lot of fun to see everyone and I know that Ashley enjoyed spending so much time with her cousins! The kids had a blast playing together from the time they woke up till the time they went to bed at night. We had planned on waking up early on Friday to make the trek down there but didn't actually get out of the house until around lunch time - we stopped in Waco at La Fiesta for lunch (this was Eric and I's favorite Mexican restaurant during our 4 years at Baylor). On Saturday we woke up and headed to one of Eric's childhood fun spots - Aquarena Springs - the kids got to ride a glass bottom boat and search for fish and turtles in the water.

On Sunday we went to Landa Park and the kids got to ride a train all around the park and play on the playground - Ashley loved the train! It was pretty cute :)

The Reiter's thought it would be fun to have a theme for this years reunion so Pirates we were...several family members floated the river all decked out in their best pirate gear. There was even a treasure hunt for the little pirates on Sunday before lunch - Eric, Ashley, & I all dressed up for the treasure hunt and had a great time seeing all the other pirates! I made Ashley's little pirate costume and it was a HUGE hit :)
The whole clan minus a few pirates that were cooking lunch for us ;)
Eric & I decided that since we were already down there and probably wouldn't want to make the 5 hour drive again anytime soon that we'd take Ashley to San Antonio on Monday and check out Sea World. We had a blast!
Ashley even fed the dolphins (ALL BY HERSELF!!!!!) I was amazed that she did this - but she didn't even have an ounce of fear - she grabbed a stinky smelly fish out of the bucket and put it in the dolphins mouths. She thought it was really fun and loved seeing two shows (dolphins and shamu) and playing in the waterparks.

We had a great day and then a really long ride home that night! Ashley did so great in the car though! Not fussing at all until we were about 30 minutes from home...WOW! We had a busy Labor Day but it was definitely fun!

1st day of School

Five new posts! Keep reading ;) and Labor Day Fun is still to come...but I'm off to bed - so that will just have to wait.

...and this is the best picture I could get - I promise that she was excited about going....very excited actually - just not excited about taking a picture!

Poor Miss Lady!

Gigi & Granken went to Germany a few weeks ago and we got to dogsit Lady. Ashley loved having a little playmate around the house - we're not so sure that Lady loved being here though....here's a quick shot of Ashley dressing Lady up.

Children's Museum

We went to visit the Dallas Children's Museum a few weeks ago to escape the rain and being couped up in the house for 5 days!! Ashley had a good time forecasting the weather, digging for dinosaur bones, & playing on the farm.

Ashley and Aidan pretended to be firefighters (a few times).

Diggin for some bones ~ and then measuring them of course!

Potty Training?

We haven't had much luck with Ashley ---- but apparently Ashley is having a TON of luck training her dolls - I find babies on her potty all the time, naked & we hear, "baby go potty, OK, good job, baby, 5 MMs for you" all the time! So she understands that you need to sit there without clothing on, and she understands that you get 5 M&Ms if you go potty...so I guess the will to do it just isn't there for her yet....we'll see.....

Big Girl Bed: Take 2!

So a few weeks ago, Ashley got stuck in her crib slats - AGAIN....and I'd had enough of that - so we went shopping for big girl bedding. Ashley wanted purple polka dots - so that's what we got {thank you Pottery Barn for having that bedding!} Purple is not an easy color to find - everything is Pink and Green!!! Anyways! When Daddy got home we put him to work disassembling her crib and setting up her big girl bed! She loves it! Absolutely LOVES IT! and we haven't had any problems! Seriously, had I known this would be such a 'non' event - I would have done it months ago.

Go Wildcats and other things!

The other day Ashley was playing by herself - which she has finally started to do...and I heard her talking to her baby - She loaded up the baby in her stroller and proceeded to bend down to it's level and say in a sweet little two year old voice, "Baby want to go to zoo?, OK" got back up took the stroller by the handles and wheeled the baby across the room to her little table...I watched her for a little while, curious as to what she was up to, as she was busy going back and forth across the room - finding animals and placing them at the zoo {under the chairs of the table}.

It was just so cute to see her use her imagination in this way - we'd never done this before - she thought it up all on her own. I snapped this pic in the early stages of the zoo creation and then went back to cleaning up the kitchen...
This is the final result of her zoo - she even fed all the animals...what a superb little zoo keeper she is ;) She is so sweet and makes me smile each and every day!
Ashley has been asking for a big girl bed for a few months now...but mommy has been scared...this girl is one WILD sleeper, thumping around doing flips all night long...so I've been hesitant...well, she is persistant and finally won out the other night....so we put her mattress on the floor to test it out...see what it'd be like with no boundaries to keep this wild thang in bed....I heard a thud...went upstairs and found her like this....went back downstairs for the camera - I know...a normal pre-blogging days mom probably would have immediately scooped up their fallen child...but nope, not me....I thought BLOG WORTHY? YES! I did put her back on the mattress after the picture though :) where apparently she stayed the rest of the night {shocker} - the next night she stayed at Nana and Pops house and then the following night she requested to sleep in her crib again...so who knows - we'll just stay in the crib till she asks for a big girl bed again...

So this weekend marked Eric & I's high school reunion {yes, we went to the same high school --- along with 1480 other people who also graduated with us --- and no, we did not know each other --- we met after we graduated}

Here is a pic of Ash at the reunion picnic we went to earlier in the day - where Ash got to meet the Plano Wildcat - she wasn't too sure about him...we assume that is because even at this young age she already knows to despise the Wildcat - as you see she will go to the Wildcat's rival high school and be a Wolf when she gets older...

So the reunion itself....It was fun - I knew no one - Eric knew everyone - seriously I thought I had friends in high school...where did they all go? Not quite sure...but they were definitely MIA at this shindig...I still had fun though :) Even though I had to tell about 200 people that yes, I did actually exist back then and I was sorry that I did not know them.

Here's a quick shot of E & I about to head out the door to go to the big event...

It's been awhile...

since my last post....so get ready for a really long one with lots of pictures! Time seems to escape me these days :) So here is a recap of what little miss Ash has been up to recently.

LITTLE CHEFS

Ashley & Aidan have been busy making pizzas and hanging out at each other's houses.

CIRCUS TIME
We went to the Circus this past weekend with Gigi, Granken, Michael, Rachel, Mommy, Daddy, Ashley, Nana, Pops, Tiffani, Larry, Alex, & Sam. Ashley seemed to really enjoy it - I think her favorite part was seeing the horses, miniature ponies, and trick dogs :) This girl LOVES animals!!

This was adorable - so I know you most definitely SHOULD NOT take pictures during the National Anthem - but I looked over and she had her little hand over her heart....so I did it - I took a picture...SORRY! Couldn't resist!
Gotta love that $11 cotton candy - I guess it's worth $11 because it comes in a floppy hat?? HA!

And I think she may have learned a trick or two herself - see pictures below of the stuffed elephant that she got at the circus!!! Pretty silly! She does this AT LEAST 10 TIMES A DAY - it is hilarious - she goes around the whole house!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DADDY!
Eric celebrated his birthday on August 4th - Ashley and I had fun baking a cake and decorating it for him!
Daddy got a Wii for his bday and Ashley LOVES to 'play game' as she calls it. She's actually really good at Wii golf and boxing! Pretty funny to watch her - she gets really into it!

HOUSTON ROAD TRIP
Ashley and I went to visit Ashley & Halle in Houston - we all had a great time! The girls are so cute together and are still asking about each other 3 weeks later! The girls dressed up like princesses one day and had their toes painted --- they thought they were hot stuff! We also went to a fun little water park one day to cool off in this heat!
