MISSION: FAILED! and failed miserably --- so miserably that my poor daughter was begging me to go back home and I kept going - I was determined to feed some stinkin' ducks...finally I gave up -- and Ashley said, "It's ok mommy, we tried" ---- what a sweetheart!

Evil ducks!

So there are about 5 local ponds around in various neighborhoods near us that have ducks. We went to the first one - walked up to a group of 9 ducks - the swam away -- and quickly to the other side - so we walked around to the other side ---- they swam away. We walked further down looking for any other ducks to feed...none.
Got back in the car - went to pond #2 - no ducks
Got back in the car - went to pond #3 - ducks visible - got out of car, approached with bread out --- ready - ducks swam away
Got back in the car - went to pond #4 - no ducks
Got back in the car - drove up to church - got out of the car, made the trek to the pond - spotted 3 ducks - got excited, this was going to be it - we were finally going to feed some ducks, got about 10 feet from them and they FLEW AWAY!!! like flew so far away that we couldn't even see where they went!
BUMMER!!!! Why were the ducks misbehaving?? They always want bread, right?? and then on the hike back to the car - it dawned on me --- these ducks were probably all 'visiting' ducks - maybe they had flown in from other states - trying to get to warmer parts --- nonetheless, I have rationalized it to myself that they were not used to people and didn't know how to react to us w/ our bread bag. BUMMER!!!! but "It's ok Mommy, we tried"
